Being a Light in the World-or Friendship, Fellowship, and Fashion

Hello, lovelies!

I hope you’ve been enjoying the reviews and tutorials as I get back into the groove of blogging, following the craziness that is the county fair! 🙂 ALSO….Urban Princesses Episode 2 is deep in the works–I’m just having a ball making a couple of additional sets that are (hint, hint 😉 ) loaded with Easter eggs and Disney references!

Today I have something sort of different for you guys. I hope you’ll bear with me–this has been on my heart and mind for a while, and I really wanted to share. 🙂

I think everyone has probably experienced at one time or another the kind of person I call a Debbie Downer…a Negative Ned…a Cotton Headed Ninny Muggins. 😉 You get the idea. These kinds of people just seem to dislike joy, and they certainly don’t like to see others having fun. Maybe you’ve experienced a more collective put-down by a group of people. Fandoms, especially, can be great, but they can also be pretty rude. Once not too long ago, I joined a forum online that seemed fun at first…but I quickly found out that those same folks weren’t too nice as soon as I expressed an opinion that they disagreed with. In fact, they were downright mean. On another note, I’ve personally known people who I thought were nice…but then, BLAM! One day they decide to treat you differently and it seems like they just don’t like seeing you happy.

As some of you may already know, I’m a Christian, and I hold to my beliefs very strongly. I realize that not all of my blog readers have the same world view as I do, but I think that this is something everyone can relate to.

It’s easy to just start accepting this kind of negativity. It’s easy to start unknowingly agreeing with opinions that you may not approve of. It’s easy to go along with the crowd. It’s easy to think that you’re better off not upsetting the boat…that you should just sink into the background and accept what Debbie-Downer-people tell you.

It’s easy to think that you’re the one with a problem.

Well, we’re here to give you one big word.

Dare to have joy.

Dare to dance like no one is watching.

Dare to be a light in the world.

Dare to let purity, love, and hope radiate from your happiness. To quote the Gospel of Matthew,

Matthew 5:14-16

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

In a world of the Empire, dare to be a Rebel.

Princess Leia Briar Beauty

(forgive the Star Wars reference, but as you guys very well know, I’m a nerd. 😉 )

To put it in nautical terms,

Refuse to sink.

Never let someone else’s problems bring you down to their level of negativity.

Instead of accepting the world’s often disgusting standards, rise above it all. Let your joy shine through friendship…

…and if you’re like me, even fashion! 🙂

Whether you’re a doll blogger or not, or even a blogger at all…I issue this challenge to you. Forget those people who try to drag you down. Instead, let your light of positive joy shine out into the world!

More than anything….remember that when you’re standing up for what’s right, you’re never the one with a problem.

The plain and simple fact is that you are unique. There is no one else in the world who thinks like you, and for that you are a jewel to everyone around you!

Except for one or two of you, I don’t know any of my blog readers in real life…so I don’t know what may be going on in your life right now. You might be struggling with something that I could never imagine, be it physical or emotional. However, I sincerely hope that this post lifted you up and maybe inspired you to be bold with your joy! 🙂

Also, let me just say that for me, personally, this blog is a huge blessing. I mean, it’s not that I try to hide the fact that I collect dolls, but I don’t exactly go around advertising it to every person I meet. 😉 And, except for my family and a few close friends, I don’t know a ton of people that I can “fangirl” with. 😉 You amazing blog readers are collectively sort of like one, super sweet friend that I can turn to to freak out over something doll-related….Like, oh, I don’t know….how much I love my Scarlet Starling doll‘s face mold, or  how much I adore red-headed dolls….you know, there are a lot of things. 😉 Anyway, the fact that I have such supportive and ridiculously sweet blog readers is the best feeling in the world!

Also, there are hopefully some exciting things coming to Doll Dimensions in the coming months….as I mentioned earlier, Urban Princesses: Episode 2 is in production, and I think it’ll be an absolute blast! AAAAAND, I’ve got a project in the early stages of development that I’m super psyched to work on. I’ll give you a hint….it’s a talk show! 😉

So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Just, thank you. 🙂HANDS

Love you guys! 🙂 ❤

  1. I can’t wait for Ep 2!!! I’ve had experiences with my faith before but the worst part is is when other Bloggers that are Christians and agree with me act like I’m the crazy and over reacting! And maybe a trouble maker! Even though she called me Nasty names and insults. It hurts when you feel lonely and when everybody thinks your a lunatic. Sorry, for talking so much😜 Anyway, thanks for making this post!

    1. Ahhhhhh I just now saw this comment!! Thank you so so much! You are so sweet! 😊 I can totally relate…and you’re absolutely not talking too much! It’s frustrating when people are hurtful just because they disagree with you. 😦 It’s nice to know I’m not the only one who has that happen! Thank you so much for your super sweet comment…you always make my day! 🙂 ❤

  2. Thank you for making this post, Grace…very well said! Your blog is always such a happy, positive place, and although I don’t know you in real life, I feel so blessed to have met you through blogging. I don’t trumpet my love for dolls to people in real life either, so I know what you mean about finding people who share the same interests…it’s really amazing. The positivity of this post came at a good time for me, too, because it’s easy to get sucked into negativity – I love the Bible verse you quoted. It’s one of my favorites. 🙂 Long comment, but just wanted to thank YOU! ❤ 🙂
