Some Quick Updates: Thrift Store Finds and Costumes

Hey, y’all!

SorryΒ it’s been so long! Things have been truly CRAZY! So, today I’m here to show you why things are so crazy πŸ˜‰ , and what’s coming soon to Doll Dimensions! This totally would be a Fresh Friday Files, ‘cept it ain’t Friday….sooooo…. πŸ˜‰

First up, I found this Barbie Enchanted Evening Outfit Set at my local thrift store for only $1.97! And it’s actually $40 on Amazon! πŸ˜€ It’s only missing one outfit, and that’s totally fine with me. πŸ™‚

The 80’s is strong with that one on the far left. πŸ˜‰

I’m thinking that the red and gold gown would be great for Mulan for a future Urban Princesses episode, too. πŸ™‚

Next up….I found Maximus for $.99 at another thrift store! πŸ˜€

His hair is in pretty bad shape right now, but with some work I think he’ll be great for Urban Princesses. (Merida works at a horse ranch, remember? πŸ˜‰ )

Next up, I found this Made to Move Barbie at the Walmart After-Christmas sales last month for only $5!!! πŸ˜€ I can’t wait to review her soon.

Next up, recently there was a 50% off sale on DC Super Hero Girls, and I immediately snagged the new Wonder Woman of Themyscira and the signature Supergirl to review!IMG_6065

Next up, I’d like to show you allΒ why I’m so busy. πŸ˜‰ As I mentioned in my last post, this is my 4-H season (BTW, the speeches went well, I think! πŸ™‚ ) , and I have a ton of projects due next Wednesday!

One of the projects I’m doing is a display of all of the character designsΒ I created for Urban Princesses…so you actually get a sneak peek of all of the other princesses’ outfits before they’re on the show officially! πŸ˜€

Next I’m adding a backboard with a cityscape and title, but I couldn’t wait to show you all. πŸ˜‰IMG_6067

Next up, meet one of my other items for the fair, Bert the Pig. He’s my first ever needle-felted project (I mainly knit and crochet), and while he’s definitely not perfect, I’m pretty happy with him! πŸ˜€IMG_6069

And finally, the projects that are definitely the biggest time-consumer, my costumes! Every year I enter a couple of costumes in the fair, and this year I’m doing Jasmine and Rapunzel!

Here you can see my work-in-progress Jasmine (I still have to gather the pant cuffs and add a blue corset piece), and the work-in-progress bodice for Punzie. πŸ™‚IMG_6052

Here are some other Rapunzel parts…the eyelets for the front, the ribbon-striped sleeves, a frying pan πŸ˜‰ , and a whole lotta blond wig. πŸ˜› IMG_6071

Speaking of Rapunzel, I’m actually going to be wearing her to the fair for my 4-H fashion show in a few weeks, and I’ll also be wearing her to perform I See the Light on my flute…and I’m wondering…would you all be at all interested in seeing a Costume Vlog type-thing, sort of like a Follow-Me-Around, but I’d be Rapunzel walking around the fair?

Lemme know! πŸ˜€

Also,Β this week I took the plunge and started filming part of a DIY Costume and Makeup Tutorial, so stay tuned for that!

I can’t wait to actually show you guys some of this stuff finished….but for now, have a good day, week, lightyear, etc. πŸ˜‰

  1. Well, let’s just get you on a movie set while we’re at it WOW. That is an awesome deal for clothes I love the lilac dress. What do ya mean that isn’t a perfect pig?! That pig has more perfection than April on picture day. πŸ™‚

  2. I would totally love to see a vlog-type thing, especially since Rapunzel is my favorite princess! πŸ™‚ You did an amazing job on those costumes, both for the dolls and for yourself – I was excited to see a sneak peek of the character designs! I can’t imagine wrangling that much blonde wig. πŸ˜€

    1. Thank you so much, Claire! That’s great to hear! I’ll definitely try to film a vlog at the fair next week! Rapunzel is my favorite princess, too, along with Anna. πŸ™‚ Haha, I’m honestly not sure how the wig is going to go at this point! πŸ˜‰

  3. That pig, (Bert), is crazy cute. You should try making one like it, but it looks like a hamster. It would be PERFECT for the dolls. 🐹 You are so talented in making costumes, they look very beautiful so far. πŸ™‚Hope I’m not to late! πŸ˜†
