Disney Palace Pets Review + Tall ‘n’ Fast Flower CAL

Hello, everyone!! 😀

Whew! Life is busy in so many ways right now. As I mentioned in a previous post, I’m in the midst of planning for a My Little Pony: Equestria Girls 4-H Summer Camp. I’m so, so excited, but I’m making costumes of all of the Mane 7, which is a lot! At the same time, I’m super thrilled and basically fangirling inside all of the time. 😉 I’ll hopefully post some pictures and a video on my YouTube channel as the date approaches.

In other ways, life is slowing down. My last college class ends on Wednesday, so that’s a relief! 🙂

Anyway, I have two main things to show y’all today! First of all, something caught my eye when I was wondering the toy isle of Walmart searching in vain for Season 5 Shopkins. I’ve looked at Disney’s Palace Pets from a distance before, and thought that they were pretty cute. The idea of creating pets for the Disney Princesses is pretty cool, especially since many of them don’t have pets to begin with in their respective movies. I wasn’t sure, however, about buying one of the larger sets with pets in larger sizes. To ease myself in and see if I like the Palace Pets, I found a bin of PP blind bags for $2.44 each.

I reached in, closed my eyes, and pulled out this baby!

The odd thing here is that this package says “Palace Pets” in very small lettering. The dominant lettering is the title “Whisker Haven Tales”, which I guess is supposed to be a special line different from the normal PPs. The “Tales” and “Palace Pets” is almost impossible to see in real life. Honestly, if I didn’t know ahead of time that this was a Palace Pets product, I wouldn’t have known that it was. I’m still at a bit of a loss as to what “Whisker Haven” means. It’s a cute name, when you think about it, and it makes me want to know more, like if there is a episode of the show that explains this. I’ve actually seen some of the episodes on the Disney Junior channel, and it’s a really cute, short show. The pets themselves cleverly reflect the princesses that they belong to in appearance and personality. However, the front of the bag shows the main characters, while the pets that are part of this blind bag collection are different.

I really love how Aurora’s cat has her bangs and overall aesthetic, and Ariel’s cat is just plain adorable. As a side note, I’m not sure if they already make a pet for Merida, but I would love to see that (I know she already has Angus, but he needs a girlfriend, right?! 😉 ), and once Elsa and Anna are officially adopted into the Disney Princess franchise, I’d love to see pets for them. Oooooh, what about a snow fox for Elsa? 😀

The package also advertises that they are “Super Bright!” Hmmm…I’m all for more colors! 😉

The back of the bag displays which pets I could get in this bag.

My favorites are Macaron, Plumdrop, and Windflower, mainly because their names are so cute! I can guess who some of these pets belong to, due to their color scheme and name, but I wish that the package advertised more clearly who the pet’s owners are. For example, I can guess that Windflower is probably Pocahontas’s pet (maybe she’s Meeko’s girlfriend 😉 ), and Plumdrop is probably Mulan’s pet. Some of them, though, I don’t know about…not sure who Brie, Macaron, or Truffles belong to.

But enough chit-chat….let’s crack this bag open!!!

And we got……..(drumroll)…….. Bibbidy the horse!!! I’m pretty sure she belongs to Cinderella, hence the name…which is super, super cute!

Her paint job is crisp, except for a couple of spots, and she’s just really adorable overall! (admittedly, this does make me want more PPs, which I guess is what Disney wants 😉 )

A cool feature is that her head can turn, which I think adds a lot to her appeal!

I tilted Bibiddy up for this picture, so that you can see better her adorable open mouth.

An odd feature that I’m not sure about is her removable tail. It can swivel and pop out, sort of like a pop bead. Again, I don’t know what the purpose of this is…maybe it allows her to interchange tails with other pets?

At this point in the review, I was wondering who Bibbidy would belong to. I always like to give my mini pets an official “owner”, and since I don’t have a Cinderella doll (I’m hoping for the Disney Store Classic Doll soon), I wasn’t sure who she would go to.

However, Ashlynn Ella was quick to step in and remind me that since she’s the daughter of Cinderella, Bibbidy is her pet, too!

“My mom and I always share stuff!” 😉
“Aren’t you just the cutest little thing?!”

In conclusion, the Palace Pets blind bags are adorable, well made, and a cheap way to get a surprise thrill (I’ll admit, I was pretty excited to see which pet I got). If you have other Disney dolls (or Ever After High, if you’re willing to mix franchises 😉 ), the pets make lovely props for their “owners”.

The second part of this post is something I’m really excited about! 😀

The amazing Jennifer from Squirrel Picnic recently published her first ever book, The Big Acorn Race. It’s an incredible book filled with mind blowing adorableness in the form of a story and crochet patterns centered around Hodge and Podge the squirrels. I’ve been lucky enough to work with Jennifer twice before on her blog, once on a fan mail post, and once on a comic. I was so thrilled to be on her pattern testing team for The Big Acorn race! 😀

Jennifer is now hosting a Crochet Along (CAL, for short) of one of the most beautiful patterns in her book, the Tall ‘n’ Fast Flower Pillow. This pattern is truly an adventure, and I love watching each week’s work unfold.

Here’s my pillow so far! I went with a cotton-candy-esque color scheme, with lots of pale pink, blue, and lavender.

And because I just couldn’t resist, here are Rochelle and Draculaura relaxing on the work-in-progress pillow, because I thought it matched their hair and current outfits well. 😀 I think I’ll need to make another version of just this much of the pillow after the CAL for my girls to use as a rug.

Bibbidy is pretty cute on it, too. 😉

I hope you enjoyed this mash-up post! Let me know in the comments what you think of the Palace Pets and if you have any idea why Bibbidy has a removable tail. 😉 Also, let me know what you think of my Tall ‘n’ Fast Flower Pillow, and if any of you crochet/knit! I’m always happy to get to know other yarn enthusiasts. Because if there’s one thing I love more than playing with dolls, it’s playing with yarn. 😉

I hope to post a new video on my YouTube channel within the next day or so, so make sure you’re subscribed! 😀 Be forewarned, it involves Clawdeen taking over the camera. 😛
